It is our duty to follow the Qur’an

Ramadan is the month in which the Qur’an was revealed as guidance to man and clear proof of the guidance, and criterion (of falsehood and truth)“. (El-Bekare, 185)

The Qur’an is definitely the book with greatest wisdom, a book being studied and memorized the most, a book by which rules people live and work today. It is a book that contains the principles of Allah Almighty who offers its followers only what is best for them.

The Quran is the source of our faith, i.e. the spring we all drink form, which gives us more strength and determination to succeed in our obedience to Allah Almighty. If we ask ourselves why a large number of Muslims disobey the rules of th Qur’an, why is their faith weak, the answer is in the attitude of the Muslims towards the Qur’an. The Muslims, at least the majority of them never read the Qur’an. Many Muslims whose native language is Arabic can’t study the Qur’an properly and by the Tajweed. The ones whose native language is Arabic don’t event try to learn it. Those who have learnt it, don’t read the Qur’an because they „don’t have time“. People who read the Qur’an can be divided into several groups. There are people who read the Qur’an but don’t understand it. There are other people who read it and make their voice sound more beautiful so others can hear it, without even thinking about the meaning of what they read. There are few people who study the Qur’an and think about its meaning. There are few of them who read the Qur’an while their hearts tremble and the eyes are full of tears.

Let’s hear brothers and sisters how the Qur’an makes us think about it. Allah Almighty says:

“Do they not then consider the Qur’an carefully? Had it been from other than Allah, they would surely have found therein much contradiction.”

Qur’an

Qur’an, message from Allah, The Most Gracious

The third Iman (pillar of faith) is belief in the books or messages of God. The Qur’an is the last message of Allah sent to the last missionary of God, Muhammad (p.b.u.h.) to carry it and reveal it to the entire mankind. The message of Qur’an has lasted for 23 years, 13 years in Mecca and 10 years in Medina. The Qur’an is the word and thought of God, it is published in the Arabic language and has 114 chapters (surahs) and 6.217 ayats. All the chapters of the Qur’an are gathered in one collection we call Mushaf.
The Qur’an is published as a law and guide in life, its laws lead towards happiness and progress of all people, so it would be useful for all the people to study it and follow its rules. The Muslims are especially responsible to study the Qur’an and to accommodate their lives with the regulations of the Qur’an because in that way they will reach happiness in the present and in the future world. The Qur’an is universal and modern and it will be the source of knowledge and enlightenment for all the generations of the mankind till the day of Judgment. The Qur’an teaches us to treat non-Muslims in a good and righteous way. The Qur’an explicitly forbids insulting the religious beliefs of the non-Muslims or to harm their property. It is the rule of Qur’an: “Your religion to you, and ours to us,” which means: “Tell the non-Muslims: “We will not insult your religion, and you don’t  insult ours.” Our Prophet Muhammad (p.b.u.h.) has said: I will blame the one who insults or harms a non-Muslim in front of Allah at the Day of Judgment.”Every Muslim should learn the surah Fatiha from the Qur’an by heart and at least four shorter surahs in order to perform salah, and it is especially praiseful to learn the Arabic letters and read the Qur’an regularly because it is one of the most valuable ibadahs, deeds that will be plentifully rewarded in the present and the future world by Allah.
The Qur’an should be learned properly, with the correct pronunciation of the harfs and application of the rules of tajweed. When we learn the Qur’an we should focus our mind toward Allah and beg Him to show us the way of Qur’an. Believers must get a translated version of the Qur’an on their language and read the translation regularly, too, so they can enjoy the beauty of the thoughts, advices and premonitions of the Qur’an.
